Baymusicscene.com is a free promotional website for small venues, bands, & music industry related companies. Our sevices include concert/event listings (RSS Feed available), reviews, info/profile pages, Mp3 Streaming, and an online store.

BayMusicScene was developed by John Maddox, a Bay Area native and entrepreneur. The first version of this site launched on June 27, 2005 as as a simple concert listing website. Roughly one year later, BayMusicScene re-launched as a social networking website with an emphasis on live entertainment in the Bay Area.

We want to hear from you! Do you find our site useful? What features should we add next? We are constantly working on improving our sites features.

This website was created and is maintained by John Maddox with the help of volunteer web designers.

Announcements

July 17, 2009

Our mp3 player is working once again, sorry for the inconvenience. A new file uploader is currently in the works as well, this should solve some of the issues artists have been experiencing while attempting to upload mp3's. The updated release will not be available until the new site launches toward the end of 2010.

February 28, 2009

BayMusicScene.com has moved to a new server, this move caused the mp3 player on the band bio pages to stop working. Unfortunately, due to time constraints and re-development plans this error will not be fixed until we launch our new website.

We are currently working on other projects, but we plan on completely re-designing baymusicscene.com starting at the end of 2009 or early 2010. If all goes according to our plan, we should have a working beta by summer of 2010.

Point System

Our point system is associated with club & band profiles. Points are accumulated on a month to month basis and are used to rank the bands and clubs on our site. Points tallied this month will be displayed on our main page this coming month. Our point system is roughly based on the following criteria...

User submitted reviews
Unique hits per day on visits to profile pages
Our potential top 10 list for the upcoming month is displayed in our admin area as an active poll
- The poll is located on the first page after login
- This poll contains the top 10 point holders, the top 5 will be displayed on our main page for a month. The top profile in each category will be displayed on our myspace page.

Tips:

Get some easy points by posting a link from your website or myspace page that leads directly to your baymusicscene.com profile page. Not sure how? Log into your account and click on "Make a Link" at the bottom of any admin page.
Tell your fans to register and write a review about you. A 5 on a review is worth a lot of points!
Ask your friends and fans to vote for you on our active poll, they can vote once a day.

1. Acceptance of Terms
BayMusicScene.com provides artists, clubs, and music industry related companies with free or low cost promotion tools. Anyone may join, those not in the music industry may join as a reviewer to support their favortie band or club. Our features include calendars and event listings, profile pages, mp3 streaming, merchandise sales, and reviews. The terms associated with any and all services provided by BayMusicScene.com are located in this form in the sections provided below. These terms of service may be updated by BayMusicScene.com from time to time. BayMusicScene.com will provide notice of significant changes by noting such changes in our news bulletins. By using our Service in any way, you are agreeing to comply with these Terms. In addition, when using BayMusicScene.com services, you agree to abide by any applicable posted guidelines for such service, which may change from time to time. Should you object to any term or condition of these Terms, any guidelines, or any subsequent modifications thereto or become dissatisfied with BayMusicScene.com in any way, your only recourse is to immediately discontinue use of BayMusicScene.com.

2. Content
BayMusicScene.com does not pre-screen user submitted content. This includes reviews (cd or live), show listings, mp3 uploads & profile pages. BayMusicScene.com shall have the right (but not the obligation) in its sole discretion to refuse, delete or move any Content that is available via these services for violating the guidelines of the Terms or for any other reason. You understand that all reviews and show listings are the sole responsibility of the person from whom such Content originated. This means YOU are entirely responsible for Content that YOU submit to BayMusicScene.com. It is possible that you may be exposed to Content that is offensive, indecent, inaccurate, misleading, or otherwise objectionable. If you find material on this site to be inappropriate or inaccurate you may contact the site administrator through our contact page to request its removal, if the administrator agrees that the content violates the terms of service it will be removed.

3. Proprietary Rights of content
By posting or uploading material on BayMusicScene.com, your are granting a limited license to use, modify, publicly perform, publicly display such Content solely on and through the BayMusicScene.com Services. This is a non-exclusive license you grant to BayMusicScene.com. This means you are free to license your Content to anyone else in addition to BayMusicScene.com. Material uploaded and/or posted to BayMusicScene.com is fully-paid and royalty-free.

4. Notification of Claims of Infringement
If you believe that your work has been copied in a way that constitutes copyright infringement, please contact us through our contact page to resolve issue.

5. Conduct
You agree NOT to:

* Attempt to duplicate or copy artists material found on this website. This includes music files, logos, photos, lyrics, and any other materials presented on BayMusicScene.com;

* collect personal data posted on this website for commercial or unlawful purposes;

* use automated means, including spiders, robots, crawlers, data mining tools, or the like to download data from the Service - unless expressly permitted by BayMusicScene.com;
    
* attempt to gain unauthorized access to BayMusicScene.com's computer systems or engage in any activity that disrupts, diminishes the quality of, interferes with the performance of, or impairs the functionality of, the Service or the BayMusicScene.com website.

6. No Spam Policy
You understand and agree that sending unsolicited email advertisements to BayMusicScene.com email addresses or through BayMusicScene.com computer systems, which is expressly prohibited by these Terms, will use or cause to be used Servers located in California. Any unauthorized use of BayMusicScene.com computer systems is a violation of these Terms and certain federal and state laws, including without limitation the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act 18 U.S.C. 1030 et seq., Section 502 of the California Penal Code and Section 17538.45 of the California Business and Professions Code. Such violations may subject the sender and his or her agents to civil and criminal penalties.

7. Limitations on service
You agree that BayMusicScene.com has no responsibility or liability for the deletion or failure to store any Content maintained or transmitted by BayMusicScene.com services. You acknowledge that BayMusicScene.com reserves the right at any time to modify or discontinue the Service (or any part thereof) with or without notice, and that BayMusicScene.com shall not be liable to you or to any third party for any modification, suspension or discontinuance of the Service.

8. Indemnify
You agree to indemnify and hold BayMusicScene.com, its subsidiaries, and affiliates, and their respective officers, agents, partners and employees, harmless from any loss, liability, claim, or demand, including reasonable attorneys' fees, made by any third party due to or arising out of your use of the BayMusicScene.com Services in violation of this Agreement and/or arising from a breach of this Agreement and/or any breach of your representations and warranties set forth above and/or if any Content that you post on BayMusicScene.com.
