The Paper Sons, live @ Red Devil Lounge, Friday 10/03/09 - 9pm!

The Paper Sons are a loud rock band from San Francisco, CA. The Paper Sons create music that can be described as "heavy metal with a soul clap." The Paper Sons have been compared to bands such as Deftones and Sparta, which places the Sons in the metal/alternative/post hardcore genres. Now in their second year of performing in and around the San Francisco Bay Area, The Paper Sons are hard at work recording their first full length album. Having secured and executed successful gigs at venues such as Bottom of the Hill, Cafe du Nord, Red Devil Lounge, and Slim's, the band looks to tour the US in the fall in support of the album. Paper Sons guitarist, Phil Pristia, is a familiar sight to rock fans in the Bay Area. Phil has sat in on sets with bands such as Raised by Robots and Superfinos VTO, while also having his hand in several side projects. Dennis Rodriguez, drums, and Fran Dickinson, bass, have been making music with Phil since 2003. Rounding out the lineup is vocalist/artist Tom McCullough. Tom's smooth, almost pleading vocals complement the rhythmic stylings of the Paper Sons in beautiful and unique ways. Look for The Paper Sons to take the stage this May and June at Café du Nord in San Francisco. And be sure to get your hands on a copy of the full length album when it drops this fall!

Getting to Know: The Papersons
"Café du Nord will be the setting for a showcase of three talented local rock bands tonight: Raised By Robots, The Aimless Never Miss, and The Paper Sons. The Paper Sons, four extremely talented guys from the Bay Area, are known for their real alternative-rock sound (a bit of a throw back to the early 90's but somehow still very current). We got a chance to talk to Tom McCullough (pictured second to the left), the lead-singer of the band, about all of his favorite things and most important, his favorite spots in San Francisco. McCullough is the newest addition to this rock quartet. When we first introduced The Papersons to you, we mentioned that their EP was "arriving soon." Well, it has and it's good; very good."

The PaperSons FineLine (EP) CD Review
www.sanfranciscomusicnews.com
"Capable, adaptive vocals king it out over their rushing, rapid-rock sound, accompanied by energetic drumming, providing a 'gotta bop' collection you cannot sit still to. If your hips are not swaying, your toes will surely be tapping along to this 5-track EP."

The Bruises + Red Leaves, The PaperSons
"[Red Leaves] is sandwiched here between a couple of local bands that go for the alt rock jugular, but in different and suprisingly enjoyable ways...The Papersons lean more toward emo with a sound that brings to mind Cursive and The New Trust."

"Friday night you'll want to head over to Slim's to catch six bands: Perfect Machines, Fyre Away, High Like Five, the Paper Sons, Punch Face and Bob Hill Band. We're most excited about the Paper Sons; they've just been voted number one again on Bay Music Scene. The founding members are guitarist Phil Pristia, bassist Fran Dickinson and Dennis Rodriguez on drums. Tom McCullough's voice and front-man (their newest addition) puts the finishing touches that the Paper Sons need and deserve. The newest EP should be arriving soon!"
